We are fortunate to have access to this sacred information by the grace of the Spiritual Masters who have come before us. Upon the request of Srila Jagannath das Babaji Maharaja in the late 1800's, his disciple Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur encouraged his illustrious son and disciple, Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Prabhupada, to develop his expertise in astronomical and astrological sciences for the purpose of compiling and preserving a full listing of the prominent Gaudiya Vaisnava tithis for the lasting benefit of the entire world. By properly honoring these holy days in remembrance of the Lord and his dear devotees, spiritual practitioners can attain all auspiciousness on the path of pure bhakti.
